ABOUT MERCEDES-BENZ VANS, LLC

Our History

More than 300,000 Sprinter and Metris vans have been assembled in North Charleston and delivered to destinations in the U.S. since 2006. The U.S. is now the second largest market for Sprinter vans, after Germany.

With the success of the Sprinter van in the U.S. market, the decision was made to expand the current re-assembly operation to a full-scale production plant for the next-generation Sprinter van.

In addition to our current operation, the Mercedes-Benz group has had a presence in North Charleston for longer than you might think, starting with the assembly of Western Star trucks in 1999. Below is a brief pictorial timeline of our facility’s development.
